The Walter Lantz Cartune Encyclopedia: Cartunes on Video:
Comedy Legends: Abbott and Costello

After the failure of the Universal Matinees series, Universal decided to try a similiar formula with their Abbot and Costello comedy features. Released in 1999, the tapes not only included a hilarious Abbott and Costello movie, but also a newsreel, comedy short, and a color Walter Lantz cartoon. Note that some of the cartoons use the Digital Video Noise Reduction (or DVNR) process, which is hardly noticeable on most of the cartoons, except for Chew-Chew Baby. Intentionally, the Lantz shorts on the videos were released the same years as feature films themselves. The series was discontinued in the early 2000s.
