An unproduced Woody Woodpecker cartoon called "Trail Blazin' Rangers" is said to have originally been slated to be Production U-89. While storyboards were made, the cartoon itself was never produced for unknown reasons.

This cartoon features a prototype of Gabby Gator, named "Ali Gator". The character would not be officially billed "Gabby" until "Southern Fried Hospitality" (1960).
