The Walter Lantz Cartune Encyclopedia:
Disney Oswald Reissues (1931-32)

NOTE: In 1931, the Lantz studio faced economic difficulties and, due to budget restraints, cutbacks were needed. Lantz shortened the lengths of his films and then introduced a secondary series of cartoons starring Pooch the Pup. He also post-synchronized several early Disney Oswalds with James Dietrich soundtracks. Many sources including Leonard Maltin and Jeff Lenburg incorrectly list these shorts as actual Lantz releases. To straighten out these misconceptions, we have compiled a guide of the Disney Oswald shorts that were reissued.
